New post!
My goal in the beginning was to use this Blog for travel and life in general. Then on wino to post things about wine and food. So for now that's what I'll try to do. Check it out and let me know what you think! - ryan

Love WINO but must remember not to read it on an empty stomach!! Can't wait to join you! -P
Hi Ryan. WINO Blog looks good. Keep it up and you'll be editing all these posts into a book or maybe a magazine article. Nicely done.
Had some friends over for dinner last Saturday night. Went with an Italian theme food-wise, with an ecletic wine line-up. Marinated Shrimps, Pizza Margherita, Chicken braised with Mushrooms cooked in a fresh plum tomato sauce (Pollo In Cacciocco). We had the pizza with a '01 Langeudoc, and a '99 Rioja crianza I got from you. I preferred the '99, friends preferred the '01. The Rioja was a bit softer and less acidic than the Mourvedre blend (may have evened out if I left the bottle open longer). For the chicken, we finished off the Rioja and also had a '00 Chianti Classico reserva provided by our guests. Both of these wines worked nicely with the chicken.
Before I forget, look for Vina Tondonia Rioja, '94 and '96. We drank the '96 with tapas in Barcelona last summer (I was with a French colleague) and both loved it. I brought back a '94 and it's in the cellar waiting for the appropriate moment.
My travel plans are firming up. It looks like I'll be on the continent the first two weeks of April, and available for travel starting about April 8/9. We should try to get together if possible. I think Perigeux may be about halfway between Essen and Madrid.
Stay well, Bill B.
